James.
James began his career in the Fire Service in Fife during 1976. Progressing through the ranks over the next 30 years serving in Fife, Oxfordshire, Dumfries and Galloway, finishing as a Divisional Commander within the Highlands and Islands. James gained a Pass with Distinction from the Fire Service College on the Long Fire Prevention Officers Course. Throughout his career he was a multi-role officer, covering disciplines such as health and safety, recruitment and training, station and divisional management, operations and fire safety.
Under fire safety he carried out inspections under various Acts such as The Fire Precautions Act 1971, The Licensing Act, The Petroleum Act, The Explosives Act, The Civic Government Scotland Act, many of which have now been superseded and come within the umbrella of the Fire (Scotland) Act 2005 and Fire Safety (Scotland) Regulations 2006.
The extensive experience James has gained as a District Fire Safety Officer in both Dumfries and Galloway Fire and Rescue Service and in Highlands and Islands Fire and Rescue Service where he also served as Deputy Senior Fire Safety Officer, enables him to deliver a unique professional service to his loyal clients and future ones. Since leaving the service James served as a consultant instructor attached to the former
Fire Service College on two of their international training contracts in Kuwait and Abu Dhabi UAE.
On return to the UK, he was Fire Safety Risk Assessment Officer, for Highland Council.To keep up to date in the field of Fire Safety, he completed and passed the Fire Risk Assessor Course delivered by C.S. Todd and Associates.

Stephen.
After completing a few years as a retained firefighter in Highlands and Islands Fire and Rescue Service serving in Lerwick, Wick and Thurso, where he attended a number of operational incidents, Stephen decided he wanted to join the R.A.F Police. He served in various bases in the UK and Europe and a number of operational theatres throughout the world. Having attained the rank of Sergeant he had responsibility for a number of areas including Protective Security, Law Enforcement and Training. Responsible for ensuring the security of aircraft, equipment and personnel, carrying out Risk Assessments for Health & Safety covering the whole of Scotland’s RAF units and assets. For the next part of his journey Stephen has returned to the field of fire, although no longer on the operational side but within the fire safety field. During his military service, Stephen gained various qualifications including his NEBOSH (General) Certificate and his NEBOSH (Fire) Certificate and now uses his experience of carrying out Risk Assessments, to help employers and owners have their Fire Risk Assessments carried out accurately and professionally.

Fire Risk Assessments
The law states, that if you are competent, you can carry out your own Fire Risk Assessment (FRA) and guidance documents are available on the Scottish Government website. However, not everyone is competent or lacks the knowledge, skill, and experience to carry out this task.

We can carry out the Fire Risk Assessment of your premises on your behalf and you can be assured that the assessors are fully experienced in completing Fire Risk Assessments to a highly professional standard. On completion, you will receive an electronic copy of your Fire Risk Assessment with recommendations to reduce the risk of fire and help you to comply with your legal responsibilities under the
Fire (Scotland ) Act 2005.

We are experienced in carrying out Fire Risk Assessments of B&Bs and Self- Catering establishments as part of the requirement under the Scottish Governments Legislation, Civic Governet(Scotland) Act 1982 ( Licensing of Short- Term Lets) Order 2022.
